Helen Brown is the Digital Economy Fellow for The Australia-Indonesia Centre and Managing Director of Bisnis Asia.
She spent 20 years as a multi-media journalist, starting in regional commercial TV and culminating in a 4 year posting with the ABC in Indonesia. As a Correspondent she covered multi-lateral strategic and trade summits, and reported on a vast range of issues in the region from political, to economic and social, including the 2014 Indonesian Presidential election.
She stepped away from a life-long career in journalism so that she could use her skills and knowledge to find ways for business between the two countries better engage and improve their relationships.
In Jakarta, she was a co-founder of a professional group to bring Indonesian and expatriate journalists closer together, and served on the Board of the Jakarta Foreign Correspondents Club, including a year as secretary.
Helen has a passion for creating greater understanding between Australia and Asia, while keeping across issues such as trade, agriculture, business and economics.
Helen has performed as a speaker, moderator and guest lecturer for institutions such as the Lowy Institute, the UN, Binus University, CAUSINDY and Agri-Investors. She currently serves on the Victorian Committee of the Australia Indonesia Business Council.
