Bernardus Djonoputro is the President of the Indonesian Association of Urban & Regional Planners (IAP). He currently serves as senior advisor to various projects at Ministry of Public Works & Housing Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Infrastructure Development Initiatives, and several city governments and Mayors.
He sits in various advisory positions with international organizations including as Advisory Council member at the APEC Centre for Urban Infrastructure Financing based in Melbourne, an Asia Pacific Economic Countries affiliated centre tasked in providing policy advice to the APEC country leaders on infrastructure issues. He is also Vice President of the UN affiliated EAROPH (Eastern Region Organization for Planning and Human Settlement) based in Kuala Lumpur. Bernardus also serves as Trade Advisor to the government of New Zealand envoys in Indonesia and ASEAN.
As the President of the Indonesian Association of Urban and Regional Planners (IAP), he leads the sole professional institute and certification body with over 3,500 Urban Planning professionals in Indonesia, the largest in the ASEAN region. The IAP has offices in 25 provinces around the country with members active in central and local governments, private practices, developers and education professionals.
In his professional and business capacity, he is currently the Managing Partner of HD Asia Advisory, one of Indonesia’s investment, strategic, government and policy advisory firm. The firm has an extensive infrastructure practice, and has interests in an investment company focused on infrastructure such as toll roads, power, water, ports and city development sectors, as well as a regional based Urban Design Consulting firm operating in Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. He sits as Board Member in various infrastructure companies, including PT Jababeka Infrastructure, one of Indonesia’s largest infrastructure and industrial estate companies. Prior to the current position, he has had more than 27 years working experience, including senior management positions at American Express International, Ernst & Young and PwC and as Managing Director of publicly listed PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk, one of the leading Indonesian infrastructure investors and operators.
He has worked extensively as an advisor to many investors, Fortune 500 corporations, foreign governments, as well as Indonesian central and local government agencies and political leaders. Bernardus is a regular public speaker at international conferences. He is a faculty at The Salzburg Global in Salzburg, Austria. Bernardus is well versed in the Indonesian Public Private Partnership themes.
