Sandy Arief is a PhD Candidate in Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.

Sandy has been awarded the International Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship for his PhD. His PhD projects cover organisational culture, leadership, and employee empowerment in the use of information systems. He was a recipient of multi-years international grant ‘Alumni Projects’ in 2009/2010-2011 from the U.S. Department of Education and Council for Economic Education (CEE) New York, USA.

Currently, he is a research assistant at Macquarie Business School (MQBS) in Discovery Project grants of the Australian Research Council (ARC) on transnationalism and diaspora in Australia. Prior to this, he was the Director of Research and Education at Indonesian Students Association of Australia (PPI Australia). He received the 2020 Emerging Scholar Award from Organization Studies Research Network at the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA.
