Najwa Shihab is an Indonesian journalist, media entrepreneur and founder of Narasi, an independent media company focused on journalism, civic storytelling and community engagement.

With more than two decades of experience in journalism and public affairs, she has become a leading figure in Indonesia’s media landscape. Through her work as creator and host of Mata Najwa, she has facilitated dialogue among political leaders, policymakers, academics, business leaders and civil society organisations across the country.

She previously served as Indonesia’s National Reading Ambassador and continues to champion informed public discourse through Narasi, which reaches millions of Indonesians and is supported by one of the country’s largest community networks.

Najwa holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Indonesia and a Master of Laws from Melbourne Law School. Her longstanding ties to Australia, combined with her experience connecting diverse stakeholders across Indonesia, inform her commitment to strengthening collaboration and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Her contributions to journalism and public life have been recognised nationally and internationally, including her selection as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and her inclusion among Indonesia’s most influential and powerful women by publications such as Forbes, Fortune Indonesia and Globe Asia.
