Ishak Salim is the Co-founder (2016) and Executive Advisory Board (2016 – 2021) of PerDIK Foundation (Indonesian Difabel Movement for Equality), South Sulawesi, Indonesia. In 2020/2021 Ishak Salim and several disability activists established the Indonesian DPOs Network to respond the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic (Jaringan DPO Respon Covid Inklusif) and the Society Forum for Monitoring Disability Inclusion in Indonesia (FORMASI Disabilitas) which focused on monitoring the compliance of disability Rights in Indonesia.
He is also the Co-founder of AcSI (Active Society Institute) South Sulawesi in 2005. AcSI is a NGO that promotes traditional market revitalization and youth development in Indonesia. He transformed AcSI from a research based advocacy to school for social transformation in Sulawesi (2019), and worked with local market traders and young volunteers to establish local traditional market organizations. Ishak Salim is also a former Chief Executive of INSIST (Indonesian Society for Social Transformation, 2016 – 2019), in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Ishak Salim received his bachelor degree in Political Science from Universitas Hasanuddin in 2000, his Master’s degree in Governance and Democracy from the International Institute of Social Studies, in the Netherlands in 2007, and obtained his PhD in Political Science (Disability Study) in January 2019 from Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta. He is currently also a Lecturer and Head of Department of Political Science at Universitas Teknologi Sulawesi.
