Dr Astri Ferdiana is an assistant professor at the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine University of Mataram (UNRAM) in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Aside from her main role at UNRAM, Dr Astri also works as a researcher at the Center for Tropical Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and as a research consultant for NLR Indonesia.
Her research focuses on disability, tropical diseases and occupational health issues in which she has been awarded national and international research grants, including from USAID for “Spinal TB in Indonesia” in 2021 and also from WHO and UNICEF for studies in Papua and West Papua on malaria between 2017 to 2019. She was also awarded the Endeavour research fellowship award from the Australian Government for her research on spinal cord injury.
Dr Ferdiana holds a Medical Doctor from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Master of Public Health from the Royal Tropical Institute and a PhD in Public Health from University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
Dr Ferdiana is a member of the WHO-AIC Health Rapid Review Network.
