Prior to this, Andi Darmawan Bintang was the Head of Manpower and Transmigration, South Sulawesi Office. He completed his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at Hasanuddin University and continued his Masters at The University of Queensland in Development Planning in Developing Countries.
