Monash University

Alex Gunn is research fellow at Monash University with the Australia-Indonesia Centre Urban Water Cluster.

He is currently completing his PhD in Sociology. He has a masters in Public Policy and Management from the University of Melbourne.

Alex has worked with Monash University since 2015. He has helped plan Water Sensitive City transitions in Elwood (Victoria), Adelaide (South Australia), and Kiruna (Sweden). The Elwood project involved working with members of the community to develop a 50-year vision of a sustainable and flood-resilient suburb. This project prompted a new regional approach by authorities in the catchment.

Before joining Monash, Alex worked with the Victorian government in urban and regional planning and community-managed public land policy. This had a focus on managing rural economic and demographic transitions in response to changes in rural water use.
