Announcing the fifth Australia-Indonesia Leaders Program – Future Cities

The Australia-Indonesia Centre is pleased to announce the fifth Australia-Indonesia Leaders Program, focusing on the theme of ‘Future Cities’.

Building on the successes of programs in 2015 and 2016, the Centre will bring together 30 delegates from Australia and Indonesia to share knowledge through a series of university courses, workshops, masterclasses and cultural experiences in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne from May 22 to 31.

Courses focusing on the shared challenges of creating resilient, sustainable and networked cities will be presented by Monash University, Monash Business School, Australian National University, The University of Melbourne, Asialink, The University of Sydney, and Bandung Institute of Technology.

The City of Melbourne will host a dinner with speakers presenting on the theme ‘Developing Future Cities in Indonesia’. The New South Wales Consulate General, Victorian Consulate General and the Indonesian Embassy will also host the group.

The delegates will once again be treated to a Diplomatic Masterclass at PwC Melbourne, featuring esteemed former ambassadors and international relations experts, in conjunction with the Australian Institute of International Affairs. In Canberra they will join the signature Roundtable Discussion with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. They will also witness democracy in action during a visit to Parliament House for Question Time.

Connecting the future with the past complements the theme – the program beginning with an Aboriginal Cruise of Sydney Harbour and bringing the group to the iconic ‘Dreamtime at the ‘G’ Australian Rules Football match between Richmond and Essendon as part of the AFL’s Indigenous Round. These events lead a variety of cultural activities throughout the program.

The Centre thanks its university, government, and corporate partners for their support. Follow the Australia-Indonesia Centre on Facebook and Twitter for updates and highlights.
