Join leading researchers to discuss the Australia-Indonesia relationship.

Australia-Indonesia Centre research fellow Jemma Purdey presents a seminar, panel discussion and Q&A with experts on the relationship between the two nations.

Senior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Australian Studies at Monash University, Dr. Agnieszka Sobocinska, will present her research paper ‘Measuring Australian popular attitudes towards Indonesia over seventy years’, which “combines 70 years of polling data with qualitative research from the humanities and social sciences, working towards a holistic analysis of what Australians think about Indonesia, why they hold those attitudes, and how popular perceptions are politically significant in Australian- Indonesian relations”.

Monash University linguistics and social science researchers RoseAnne Misajon and Howard Manns will then present ‘Text analysis & smart power for the Australia-Indonesia relationship’ , a project there the researchers developed a text analysis tool and conducted a series of focus groups in both nations to establish a baseline understanding of the Australian-Indonesian relationship.

Includes a panel discussion and Q&A with the researchers.
