We are pleased to announce that the Provost of the University of Melbourne, Professor Mark Considine, has joined the Australia-Indonesia Centre board.
Professor Considine was appointed as Provost of the University of Melbourne in 2018, moving from the role of Dean of the Faculty of Arts, a position he held since 2007.
He is a highly respected public policy specialist with a career spanning academic research and applied policy work for government and civil society organisations. His research areas include governance studies, comparative social policy, employment services, public sector reform, local development, and organisational sociology.
In 2013 he was appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor (Governance), and previously chaired the University Services Board. He has also been heavily involved with state and federal governments in the design and improvement of social services and strategies for place-based innovation.
Professor Considine holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a PhD from the University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (Victoria) and the Australian Academy of Social Sciences, and he was awarded a Redmond Barry Distinguished Professorship in 2015.
The Centre would also like to acknowledge the valuable contribution of the former board member and University of Melbourne Provost Margaret Scheil AO, who has recently been appointed Vice Chancellor of Queensland University of Technology.
