Microgrids as enablers of sustainable power system investment and decarbonisation pathways

In order to identify the best strategies for investing in renewable energy in a modern power system, this project integrates economic and technical modeling of the power system planning and investment process with social and institutional analyses. This will involve identifying and quantifying the impact of future costs of new microgrids and large-scale renewable technologies on investment and policy decisions in the context of local and national social issues. Understanding the social factors and uncertainties is key to ensuring resilience of the system design recommendations, and fundamental to providing confidence in everyday decision making by system managers.
